Logo Design

What is innovation without a little collaboration? FreeCodeCamp is a global community of millions learning to code together. In Columbus, Ohio, I had the opportunity to collaborate with John Riley, a contributor, coach, and trainer specializing in Agile principles.

Creating a customized logo involves much more than simply combining letters and images. Just as FreeCodeCamp’s mission is to make learning to code accessible, my mission is to design logos that resonate with the company's values, are visually memorable and appealing to new audiences, and stand the test of time. After all, the ultimate goal of any logo is to achieve just that.

Deign Principals

Everything is done with intention. That’s why there were 14 initial sketch designs, though only 10 made it to Adobe Illustrator. After many votes and a poll from the contributors of Columbus FreeCodeCamp, the designs were narrowed down to the top 4. Stay tuned for upcoming updates!

The color scheme was inspired not only by the green from their previous logo but also by the company's name. "Camp" evokes associations with s’mores and a campfire, elements of connection that influenced the design. It’s always good practice to experiment with different color themes. Brainstorming various approaches is crucial when creating intentional and resonant designs

The Vision
